<ExplanationTxt>Total $60665.67. This amount is the total for all breast cancer fighter/survivor programs (missions) for the calendar year 2023. Missions include the following programs and expenses. Care Packs for Breast Cancer Fighters $10,304.00 (414 care packages sent to fighters across the state of Oklahoma). Most package contents a are either made by volunteers or bought at cost or a negotiated cost that is lower than retail. Areola Tattoos $11,200.00. Areola tattoos are rarely paid fully by commercial insurance. Areola tattoos cost $400 per breast. In 2023, 14 sets of areola tattoos were funded by Breast Cancer Survivors Oklahoma. Stage 4 Soothing Sanctuary Getaways. $4,000. With our partner VRBO owner in a beautiful location just north of Oklahoma City, this organization is able to provide a free weekend getaway for women who are fighting stage 4 breast cancer and one guest. The fighter and her guest are also provided with not only a peaceful weekend, but also meals, and a gift card to purchase anything they may need to make the weekend special to them. Four getaways were provided in 2023. Crocheted Cleavage. $1,000. Crocheted prosthetics for those who are not having reconstruction or are experiencing delayed reconstruction. Because this organization is run by volunteers, the only cost for each of these costs $10, materials only. 100 items were given in 2023. The BUBER $33,196. When surveying our members and evaluating a gap in services for fighters, our organization found that safe and affordable transportation was a need. In 2023, our board voted to fund a transportation program to assure that fighters can not only get to and from chemotherapy and radiation treatment, but also have a supportive survivor by their side during each trip and treatment. The goal is to transport and support 50 fighters during 2024. Medical Reimbursement Program. $1,000. Even with good insurance coverage, cancer treatment and recovery can take a toll on a fighter's finances. This organization pays for copays and other expenses (directly to physican/hospital) that the fighter cannot afford.</ExplanationTxt>
