All services are provided free of charge by members of the Arkansas State Dental Association, assisted by a host of volunteers. ARMOM provides dental care for the relief of pain and for maintenance of good oral health among under-served Arkansans, many of whom are from working families who do not have access to or cannot afford dental insurance. Approximately 120 fully operational dental stations are set-up that function similar to what one would find in a typical dental office including vacuum, compressor, x-ray and lighting capabilities among others. The activities of ArMOM are in full compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Arkansas Dental Practice Act, and any other rules or regulatory body.Percentage of financial support factor - ARMOM has been in existence since 2008. Since its inception through 2023, the public support amounted to 18%. For the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, ARMOM did not provide the clinic due to Covid-19. In 2023, the organization was able to offer the free dental clinic. During the past eight years, the public support has been 21%. However, this does not reflect the value of free services provided each year to the public. The value of services provided each year is in excess of $1,000,000.Sources of support factor - From its inception through 2023, ARMOM received 82% of its support from six private foundations Delta Dental Foundation, Wal-Mart Foundation, Care Foundation, Inc., TR U/W C Sturgis Char., Arkansas Community Foundation and Tyson. Consequently, ARMOM did not place much emphasis on fund raising until recently. However, the organization did receive support from the Arkansas Department of Public Health, Arkansas Minority Health Commission, and Proctor & Gamble. In 2014, ARMOM began to actively seek support from the general public. However, the fruits of this campaign will take many years to materialize.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, safety protocols and low volunteer response, ARMOM was unable to provide the annual two-day, free dental clinic in 2020, 2021 and 2022. During 2020, 2021 and 2022, fund raising efforts were temporarily reduced and funding from governmental agencies and sponsor corporations was deferred to match future financial needs. Representative governing body factor - The board of directors consists of dentists who live in various cities in Arkansas. None of the directors are substantial contributors.Availability of public facilities or services factor - ARMOM does not have a permanent facility for the benefit of the general public. Instead, each year ARMOM sets up a dental clinic in a city in Arkansas to provide free dental services to the general public. Past locations include Little Rock, Springdale, Monticello, Jonesboro, Arkadelphia and Conway. Since its inception, ARMOM volunteers dentists (150+), registered dental hygienists/registered dental assistants (240+), licensed pharmacists (15+), registered nurses (30+), and other support staff (400+) have treated over 28,000 patients.
