<ExplanationTxt>As Virginia's only NARR accredited body, VARR monitors, evaluates, and improves standards to build the highest level of quality for recovery residences; so all Virginian's have timely access to effective recovery support services. NARR is the National Association of Recovery Residences. The team at VARR creates, monitors, evaluates, and continually improves recovery residence standards and measures of quality; accredits the recovery residences who meet criteria and standards of VARR; serves as a voice for social model recovery programs in Virginia, which includes recovery treatment programs that provide housing to clients and works to ensure ethical practices by members. VARR strives to maintain a forum for exchanging ideas, lending support, problem solving, and developing new and existing residential programs. It provides community education and member training that enhances competency and individual growth of residents, their families, and peer recovery supports along with facility staff, volunteers and others in the recovery community. VARR promotes recovery within the community and works to ensure quality and safe recovery residences through annual re-accreditation processes. VARR strives to ensure integrity of Virginia's recovery residences and the program services they provide to addicts and alcoholics in need. VARR recognizes that recovery takes time, and that residential support has many facets, yet residences are required to follow standards and best practices. VARR affirms the necessity of a continuum of care to adequately address the total needs of the addicted community, of which housing is a large component in the continuum. VARR manages the disbursement of its subrecipient funding grant contract agreements to its secondary subrecipients through a process of application to receive the funds that are passed from the Federal agencies to the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health Development Services (DBHDS) and ultimately to the secondary subrecipients. The cloud software that is used to manage this process is called ARMS (Advanced Recovery Management System) and was funded by the Virginia State Opioid Response Grant. ARMS will track through its software platform available indigent beds and resident status in each Recovery Residence or Recovery Community Organization, as applicable. VARR management also will conduct random visits to the Recovery Residences or Recovery Community Organizations to verify existence of the facility and beds maintained. ARMS allows VARR management to efficiently implement recovery support services that promote resident transition from active addiction to healthy, pro-social networks. This process starts in a residential peer community and extends forward to include the local recovery and at-large communities. Each component of the system is built on research and best-practices developed by the academic community over the last 50 years.</ExplanationTxt>
