The Community Food Farm (CFF) was established as an institutional intervention to re-introduce, nurture, and sustan community gardens and food farms to address hunger, malnutrition, and augment family income. Kusina ng Kalinga (KNK) is a strategic response to hunger and malnutrition among Filipino children. KNK is a program where thousands of nutritious vegetable-based meals are prepared from community kitchens. The kitchens are established through the collaborative efforts of parents, volunteers, local government units schools, private individuals, organizations and corporate partners. In 2023, two (2) productivity hubs started in North Cotabato and Camarines Norte. Pt III, Line 2 Disaster Preparedness and Recovery ($6,605.00): When disaster strikes, the poor suffer the most. There is an immediate need to deliver relief and on the ground support to disaster areas when calamities strike. Gawad Kalinga provides for food, water, first aid kits, mats, personal hygienic needs and other basic necessities. Recovery efforts after the calamity may be in the form of repairing roofs and livelihood assistance. In 2023, GK provided relief packs for 2,800 beneficiaries previously affected by typhoons Paeng and Odette in Surigao del Norte. There were 7,500 victims of typhoon Egay and Falcon in Bulacan, Pampanga and Tarlac who were given assistance thru relief food packs. About 40 homes were repaired when an earthquake hit Davao de Oro. GK would like to prepare the poor as first responders when a disaster or emergency situation arises. Safety and basic life support trainings were conducted in different areas in Southern Mindanao. Mobile Education and Disaster Response Kits were developed that will provide information on disaster preparedness, first aid and effective organization during a disaster.
