AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING DURING ACADEMIC YEAR: Our after-school program runs Monday through Thursday from October to May, offering low-income children ages 5-12 academic assistance, access to technology, and recreational activities. Each day, students receive two hours of individualized instruction from our teaching staff, who help bridge gaps in conceptual understanding and ensure all assignments are completed. Our curriculum emphasizes math & reading fundamentals, equipping students for both immediate test success and long-term academic achievement. In addition to academics, we provide creative and physical outlets, such as computer-based games, arts and crafts, and board games to foster cognitive, social, and physical development. Outdoor activities like team sports and obstacle courses promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits. Our dedicated staff and volunteers support students daily, serving as positive role models and fostering constructive interactions among peers. 0 34882 SUMMER DAY CAMP: NHC hosts a five-week summer day camp for children and teens ages 5-16 at the North Hills Community Center. Participants are grouped into pods led by a teacher and/or recreational aide and rotate through indoor and outdoor stations featuring academic training, strategy games, sports, and aquatics at the township pool. Interactive activities are designed to promote camaraderie, team spirit, and healthy competition among campers, encouraging the development of positive relationships with their peers. Age-appropriate educational activities are also incorporated to develop critical thinking skills, inspire creativity, and reinforce math, science, and reading fundamentals throughout the summer. Finally, at the culmination of each week, organized excursions to explore museums and parks in Greater Philadelphia foster rich, cultural and historical learning opportunities for children from low-income families. 0 30051 TEEN ENRICHMENT PROGRAM: During the academic year, our Teen Enrichment program provides career guidance and mentorship to high-risk teenagers ages 13-19 from the North Hills community. Programming runs from 6pm -8pm, one evening a week to enable participation from students involved in our afterschool program or sports teams. Teens are matched with staff mentors who invest in developing 1:1 relationship and use tools such as skills assessments to help students explore career options. Mentors often utilize their own community network to connect students with professionals from their fields of interest, and help teens cultivate key life skills such as time and stress management techniques. Additionally, the program includes team-based athletic and recreational activities to help students foster new friendships, develop sportsmanship, and learn to interact in a dynamic environment.
