At the meeting, the board members review the return and are free to ask any questions or engage in discussion regarding any topic covered in the return. As an alternate method, the board members may review the draft 990 online. Once the governing body has reviewed and approved the form 990 the return is filed with the Internal Revenue Service. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Staff ministry activities are reviewed at each quarterly board meeting. Supervisory personnel regularly visit the various field locations and interface directly with the staff to review all ministry activities to make sure everyone is in compliance with the mission policy; board members also visit field locations. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 All compensation is approved by the Board of Directors. Each approval, whether for a new employee or change to an existing compensation package, is presented to the Board for their approval. Once approved, this approval is implied into succeeding years until a request for change is presented to the Board. Therefore, the Board maintains oversight and approval authority with regard to compensation.
