The purpose is to protect this tax-exempt when entering into transactions, etc. The policy is discussed at general business and executive board meetings. The policy is intended to supplement but not replace any applicable state and federal laws governing conflict of interest applicable to nonprofit and charitable organizations. In its Form 1023 application, the organization adopted the recommendations found in the IRS instructions. Form 990, Part III, Line 2 The organization achieved part of its first mission which was to complete the installation of Legacy Monument in honor the first and only principal of its high school principal, Mr. Charles McCurdy. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2 The president and treasurer are related. The treasurer does not have check writing over any bank accounts or the collection of funds. The treasurer serves to assist the organization in its compliance with all Federal and state laws. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b An electronic version of the Form 990 was sent to each Board member for review and comments. Some Board members responded in writing and those edits were included in the final return. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The organization discusses in its business meeting the requirements f being a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The organization held a dedication ceremony on June 2, 2023 in Belle Glade, Florida. The requirements being a tax exempt entity under the IRS and State of Florida were specifically addressed. It was made clear that the organization was in compliance with all laws--federal or state. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 18 The filing and acceptance of all Federal and state filings are discussed at Board meetings and the minutes of those meetings are made public. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 The conflict of interest policy, tax return filings, and all other financial information is made public to the governing body, graduates, interested parties, and all that attend our meetings. Additionally, these documents are shared at public gatherings. Form 990, Part IX, Line 11g The monument is located in a soft soil area and had to be tested before it could be installed. 1. Soil Testing Expense $1,975 and Monument Installation Expense $2,421 for a total of $4,375. Form 990, Part IX, Line 24e Monument Installation Costs: 1. Soil Testing $1975 2. Historical Marker 2420 Total Cost. $4,395 The printed copy of the return was filed well within the due date. The IRS notified us by letter (LTR2694C) dated, June 13, 2024 that if we filed the return within 10 days of its letter, that penalties would be waived. The IRS said there was missing information, but nothing was noted except it was not an electronic filing. Our organization worked diligently to get the return filed time and accurately the first time.
