Our impact-driven strategy mobilizes our expertise in storytelling and culture through a broad network of provocateurs, thought leaders, and industry experts. We are inspired by and take our cues from Iranian youth, a generation that has been raised on social media and is committed to mobilizing technology and culture to gain their freedoms. Their vision of a future Iran is grounded in collective organizing and based on the Kurdish liberation philosophy of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi which calls for solidarity across various ethnic, religious, and tribal groups. Our work first began in September 2022, as a response to the uprisings following the police murder of Jina (Mahsa) Amini. In 2023, we officially established our non-profit organization and dedicated ourselves to amplifying the fight for human rights and a secular government in Iran. During this year, we formalized a social media strategy that uses our platform to advocate for social and political change both within Iran and in the wider world. This strategy aims to re-present Iran to the world from the perspective of contemporary youth culture - music, fashion, art, and dance. This is a crucial counterpoint to two prevailing images of Iran that are fundamentally damaging to the quest for human rights in Iran. First, a counterpoint to the Islamaphobic / Orientalist representations of Iran in Western discourse; Second, a counterpoint to the propagandistic representations propagated by the Islamic Republic of Iran that aim to erase the diversity and vibrancy of young people in Iran and their resounding calls for freedom and as secular government. This social media strategy raised significant viewership and engagement, as well as press attention, which enabled us to bring greater visibility to the freedom movement in Iran. The combined UVM (unique visitors monthly) of our press hits (detailed below) is 572,293,994. Throughout the year, we continued to develop and maintain an open-access document called: How to Talk About Iran: A Living Document, which continues to support journalists in their coverage of Iran by offering summaries of the ongoing situation, listing verifiable facts and reporting. The Living Document has been accessed over 111,500 times. In the summer of 2023, we supported the development of THE IRAN PRISON PROJECT, a cultural initiative in the metaverse that gives voice to the experiences of women in prisons in Iran. This project was designed and created by Wong Doody and nominated for a Webby Award.In September 2023, we also launched our second billboard campaign to mark the anniversary of Jina Aminis death and the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising. The campaign was based in Times Square and received over 2.2 million impressions.
