Pt III, Line 4 Historic railroad artifacts: tools, right-of-way signals and signs, station furniture and equipment, and other items formerly used by the East Broad Top Railroad. Pt III, Line 4 Documents and photographs: written and printed records, maps, drawings, and photographic materials related to the physical features and operations of the East Broad Top Railroad as both a common carrier and tourist railroad, including archival materials related to the development of Friends of the East Broad Top. Pt III, Line 4 Published books, articles, and other materials: books and other publications related to the common carrier and tourist operations of the East Broad Top Railroad and proposals for its preservation and future restoration. Pt III, Line 4 Works of art: a limited number or works of art, both original and reproductions, featuring the East Broad Top Railroad. The work to be performed and amount of the grants are discussed with the recipient in advance, and the grants are approved by the Directors of the Friends of the East Broad Top, Inc. Some grant payments are made upfront and The Friends of the East Broad Top, Inc. have access to the estimates, quotes, and subsequent invoices for the work to monitor the expenditure of the granted funds. Other payments are made upon receipt of a copy of a work or materials invoice showing the expenditure. The Friends of the East Broad Top, Inc. has numerous volunteers working on complementary projects on the same worksite, and management from both organizations are in frequent contact. These measures afford regular opportunities to observe the progress of funded work and confirm satisfactory completion. Other Part II Line 1(h): The cash grant was in five parts for restoration and collections projects in Rockhill Furnace and Saltillo, PA: (a)Four grants totaling $12,103 to hire a professional construction firm to pour a new concrete slab and to purchase materials needed to reconstruct a leanto and continue restoration of adjacent office and warehouse buildings in the historic shops complex of the East Broad Top Railroad. (b)Three grants totaling $28,453 to purchase materials and hire a professional contractor to replace roofs of multiple historic shop buildings in order to restore weathertightness and preserve both the buildings and their historic contents. (c)Three grants totaling $7,051 to pay for land survey services in preparation for the reconstruction of the Saltillo, PA station according to historic architects plans based on HAER documentation. (d)Five grants totaling $70,160 to purchase materials necessary to restore historic railroad track and allow restoration of rail service. (e)Four grants totaling $71,000 to support the work of the Joint Archives and Special Collections including a specialized contractor to secure, inventory, and process historic railroad records owned by both the EBT Foundation, Inc. and Friends of the East Broad Top, Inc. Pt VI, Line 1a The corporate bylaws of Friends of the East Broad Top, Inc., empower an executive committee (consisting of the president, vice president, and secretary) to act as necessary with the full authority of the board of directors. The board elects the members of the executive committee. Pt VI, Line 19 Financial Statements are distributed to all members by mail or email annually; copies of financial statements and governing documents are available to the general public upon request. Pt VI, Line 7a All current members of Friends of the East Broad Top, Inc. elect the nine directors; directors serve two-year terms in office. Elections are held annually. Five directors are elected in even years, and four directors are elected in odd years.
