There are over 10,000 species of seaweeds worldwide, divided into three classifications: Pharophyta (brown seaweeds); Rhodophyta (red seaweeds); Chlorophyta (green seaweeds). None of the seaweed macro-algae are toxic, and all are a rich source of healthy dietary minerals and salts, including:Calcium; Iodine; Iron; and Potassium. Seaweed is also highly sustainable in comparison to other crops and contributes to carbon sequestration.
