Activities included: (1) Teaching and supporting over 250 courses; (2) Updating courses and adding courses as needed; (3) Increasing support structures for students with special needs (such as Text Help); and (4) Developing additional learning and support resources for site coordinators, parents, and students. This program service area represents the 'typical' upgrades in the online learning system. During the 2022-2023 year, CDLS supported 3,051 unique students with 10,265 enrollments from 114 Colorado school districts. Enrollments for 2022-23 increased by 152% over the pre-COVID 2019-2020 school year. 286079 0 286079 Pilot and implement new courses, modified learning models based on lessons learned, and build new learning models to support teacher shortages. Limited new structures and courses were developed this fiscal year due to the need to assess performance during the large increase in student enrollments last year due to COVID. New structures or courses developed included: (1) Credit recovery courses; (2) New gifted and talented short courses and Honors courses; (3) New Advanced Placement courses; and (4) Co-teaching course structures to support teacher shortages. All monies are used to support teaching activities. Teachers generally make $200 a student, per semester; elementary teachers were paid $300 per student, per semester. Compensation guidelines for teachers as independent contractors are included in CDLS Board Policy. Each year the Purchased Services Agreement for independent contractors is updated with the fiscal year's compensation rate. Teachers sign a new agreement each year.
