Staff representatives also meet with members site by site over the school year to determine what issues concern them. Organizing potential members to join the union. UTNO received two payments of $3,500,000 each to act as the holder of the funds for distribution to members. A third party administrator was originally hired to determine the legitimacy of each applicant's claim and make the distributions. Currently, any remaining claims are processed by UTNO staff. The payees consist of New Orleans Public School employees at the time of Hurricane Katrina.
