SYBC provides membership to the Polk County Marine Board who moor and launch their River Patrol boats and jet skis at the club on a regular basis all year long especially during the summer boating season Ensured that all active members have completed the Oregon State Marine Board required boater safety classes and have proof their watercraft is insured also Helped to educate young people and children about the safe use of the river and the dangers inherent in the strong current and sand bars. The Club is currently serving 85 full member families of the max 85 full members and 12 associate families with a waiting list of 35 local families wanting a safe place to use their watercraft and enjoy the Willamette River and surrounding areas SYBC helps to locate and mark dangerous snagged trees and sandbars that could pose a hazard to boaters and kayakers and floaters along with providing a safe and very convenient pull out location for emergency assistance for the boaters and floaters and paddlers who get in trouble on the river when they have mechanical issues or miscalculate their position on the river as night approaches and are unable to continue downriver in the dark to a safe pull out location hence the number of persons helped varies every year.
