In FY2023 Greater San Diego Biological Solutions established a public benefit biological research laboratory, onboarded a Director of Research and Development, and obtained all needed materials to build and test a novel vaccine production platform to democratize vaccine production for One Health. The core platform technology was designed, built, and tested. Three prototype development campaigns were initiated against SARS-CoV-2, feline coronavirus, and avian influenza H5N1 virus. The vaccines produced using these prototypes were validated as far as antigenicity, and relationships with appropriate organizations were established toward testing for protection against disease. A provisional utility patent for the core platform technology has been submitted to protect freedom to operate for public benefit, non-commercial use in prevention of epidemics.
