We taught outdoor exploration workshops, such as photography, video, and journaling, and we led history tours by the river, covering the history of the Mandan Nation, and concentrating on the 18 th and 19 th Centuries. Thomas Jefferson, the Clark family, and the Lewis family were emphasized. We continued to focus on repairs. We received a grant enabling us to rebuild our entrance bridge, and the grant included skilled carpenters and lumber. We made a short film for the local tourism bureaus initiative. We continued to sell tickets online instead of in person, following the reservation model. We also offered online programs about the Lewis and Clark statue on Charlottesvilles Main Street. In August the statue was delivered to the Lewis and Clark Exploratory Center. We did scholarly research on the Keck statue in order to prepare an exhibition and guided tour. Meanwhile, we worked with indigenous groups to write a proposal for ownership to the City of Charlottesville. We had to write two answers to an RFO (spring) and RFP (August 2 release, August 27 th deadline) and to participate in community discussions. We did grant writing and grant research and also applied and received a PPP loan. We continued to serve small groups of adults and children with disabilities and challenges, including adults with Down Syndrome, children with autism, and children with behavioral difficulties. Art and exploration were the main activities. APO, UVAs service fraternity, sent volunteers in the spring for boat exhibit repairs, though in smaller numbers than usual because of the pandemic. In the fall, we removed a large kayak shed that had been destroyed by a tree. In late spring we began to take larger school groups, though still not as long as pre-pandemic. We worked with Albemarle County and scouting groups to grow a pollinator habitat. We taught regular weekly photography workshops to a homeschool co-op. We hosted a Keelboat storytelling event for all ages. We worked with the University of Virginias Architecture School on a multi-week study they were undertaking of the effect of walking in nature on Senior mental health. In the summer we ran camp activities. We served a growing number of family groups. In July we started our week-long camps. We researched the Locust Hill graveyard, where Meriwether Lewiss mother was born. We led family tours for all ages and scholarly tours for adults. We participated in the Piedmont Virginia Community College Let There Be Light show. We taught about sculpture and the Lewis and Clark statue through hands-on art activities.
