Should a request come to the Board of Directors to view a copy of the Organization's Form 990, we would email or snail mail the requested documents to the requesting party or assist them in finding the documents through the Internet. Form 990, Part X, Line 10b The equipment for the Organization is fully depreciated. Form 990, Part XI, Line 9 Rounding of numbers on this form caused a $1 difference between assets and the total liability net assets/fund balance. I mailed in the original Form 990 on April 9, 2022, as our Organization had an approved extension on filing. However, to my surprise, we received the Form 990 back to us in the US Mail with a letter stating that it had to be filed electronically due to a new tax law. I was shocked and not aware of the new law, and I did not have the resources when I completed the Form to see that it had changed. I inadvertently mailed the form instead of e-filing it. I had been doing the Form 990 for this organization for years, so it never occurred to me that the law would change, and I would have to file electronically. Our Organization does not show a profit, or at least not a large one, and we rely on our frugality to survive. To that end, our Organization is begging for your mercy and forgiveness of any fines or penalties as a result of this e-filing mistake. Our Organization supports ice hockey officials in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area, and we would not be able to continue to do our charitable work if we were fined or assessed a penalty, and our youth would suffer greatly. After receiving your notice, I immediately researched methods to which I could file electronically and found an approved vendor. I did not delay in correcting this error and am submitting an electronic version of our Form 990 within 3 days of receiving the notice. Your notice was received in the Organization's mailbox on Saturday, September 10, 2022, and was forwarded to me, the Organization's Treasurer, via US Mail on Tuesday, September 12. I am hoping that you will see that we did everything to correct our mistake in a timely manner and that you will forego any penalties or fines.
